Shohin-Bonsai Europe newsletter
February 2007

The growing season is slowly on its way in Europe. February is normally the coldest time of the year, but as many of you know, it is not behaving as usual. The mild weather conditions make it easier to over winter Shohin were the winter is mild as here in Northern Europe were I live. Unfortunately this means an increasing risk of bugs surviving. Therefore, it is wise to keep your eyes on your trees also at this time of year to prevent attacks from bugs, especially if you live in an area with no or only little frosts.

Still it is winter, and this means it has been time for one of the big exhibitions in Europe; the Noelanders Trophy in Belgium.
Ed van der Reek kindly shares his photos from the exhibition, and of course this website concentrates on the smallest trees, the Shohin. A few bigger slipped through as well, especially worthwhile to watch is Ed`s own prize wining tree.
Take a look at the photo section.

Soon it is time for the big Shohin exhibition of the British Shohin Association. The event, The BSA Show 2007 takes place in England, the 17th and 18th of February 2007. Place: Willowbog Bonsai

Not to far away spring waits, and a new happy growing season is on its way. I hope to be apple to announce the release of the Shohin-Bonsai Book – Less Is More when spring approaches. Surprisingly many have asked about this book, and I hope it can forefill many of the needs for information about Shohin with this book.

Best regards
